How to Play
Learn to play in five minutes.
Quick reference
Before you start
- You need 5 or more players, each on their own device.
- One player hosts a lobby and shares the invite link or the lobby code.
Ground rules
- Stay quiet during the night.
- Never look at another player's screen.
Teams
Everyone is dealt a secret role, and every role belongs to one of two teams.
Good Wins if the villain dies.
- Town Their ability helps the good team.
- Outcast Their ability works against their own team.
Evil Wins if the villain is one of the last two players left alive.
- Minion Helps the villain.
- Villain If they die, evil loses.
How a round goes
- Night
- Some roles act. Nobody sees who did what, or whether they did anything at all.
- Day
- You learn who died in the night. Then the town talks it out: accuse, defend, compare notes in private. Anyone can lie.
- Vote
- The town votes on who to execute, or on no one at all. An execution needs at least half the players. Then the verdict is read, along with who voted for whom.
- Repeat
- Night falls again. The cycle repeats until the villain dies, or until they're one of the last two players alive.
When you die
The dead keep playing. Keep talking, keep scheming, keep every secret you gathered while you were breathing. And keep your dead vote: one last ballot to spend on any day you choose.
When the game ends
The winning team is revealed, and nothing stays secret. Every move made in the dark is laid out, so you can see exactly how you won, or how you were fooled.
